Dr. Pejman Mirza-Babaei Appointed Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at Ontario Tech University
Dr. Pejman Mirza-Babaei has been appointed Dean of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at Ontario Tech University, effective Tuesday, July 1, according to an announcement from the university.
Ontario Tech University made the announcement as part of its leadership updates for the coming academic year, notifying students, staff, and the broader Oshawa community of the change in the university's graduate academic leadership.
Dr. Mirza-Babaei has been with Ontario Tech University since 2013 and is currently a Professor of User Experience Research in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology. His scholarly and teaching work focuses on the design, evaluation, and enhancement of user experience in interactive systems. Since 2019, he has served as Vice-President of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group for Computer-Human Interaction, an international professional society in his field.
According to Ontario Tech University, Dr. Mirza-Babaei served as Associate Dean of Industry Partnerships in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology from 2018 to 2021. In that role, he worked with partners to launch initiatives on program development and interdisciplinary collaboration, and led a redesign of experiential learning programs in the faculty.
The university states that Dr. Mirza-Babaei most recently held the position of Associate Dean of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, where he contributed to changes in graduate thesis evaluation processes, including work on policy compliance, evaluation consistency, and clarifying guidelines for thesis examinations.

In a statement provided by the university, Dr. Mirza-Babaei said he is honoured to lead the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and looks forward to supporting students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty and staff as the SGPS role evolves.
