DRPS officer injured in Jan. 18 Oshawa call now in stable condition, Durham Region says

A Durham Regional Police Service officer who was critically injured while responding to an armed person call in Oshawa on Jan. 18 is now in stable condition, Durham Region said in a statement released Jan. 28.

The update is the latest information Durham Region has publicly provided about the incident, which the region described as a shooting in Oshawa involving DRPS.

Durham Region did not identify the officer.

The region has not released the location in Oshawa where the incident happened or details on how the officer was injured.

In the statement, issued on behalf of Durham Region Chair John Henry, the region also credited Region of Durham Paramedic Services with providing care at the scene. Henry described the paramedics’ response as “quick” and said they provided care during the incident.

No additional details about the shooting were included in the statement.
