DRPS to Participate in Law Enforcement Torch Run in Whitby on June 19
Members of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in Whitby on Thursday, June 19, 2025, according to DRPS. The event begins with registration at the south doors of Durham Regional Police Headquarters at 605 Rossland Road East at 10:15 a.m., and the run starts at 11:00 a.m. DRPS states that police personnel and Special Olympics athletes will run together through Whitby, carrying the Flame of Hope.
DRPS reports that the Torch Run is organized to raise funds and awareness for more than 26,000 Special Olympics Ontario athletes. The event is open to all members of the community.
According to DRPS, funds raised through the event support year-round training and competition opportunities for Special Olympics athletes at local and provincial levels. DRPS notes that these funds are used for various program expenses, including travel, accommodations, and training support.
