DRT OnDemand Driver Arrested for Impaired Driving in Oshawa

A Durham Region Transit (DRT) OnDemand vehicle driver was arrested for impaired driving in Oshawa on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, according to Durham Regional Police. Officers from Central West Division responded around 9:30 p.m. to the area of Conlin Road and Manor Drive after a witness reported observing a DRT OnDemand bus being driven recklessly.

Durham Regional Police identified the driver as Thipakar Chandrasekaram, 32, of Toronto. Police stated Chandrasekaram is charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Exceed. He was released on an Undertaking following his arrest.
