DRT waives fares for CAF members Oct. 31–Nov. 11

From Oct. 31 to Nov. 11, Durham Region Transit (DRT) will waive fares for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, reservists and veterans across Durham Region. Riders can qualify by showing recognized military identification, travelling in uniform, or wearing service medals.

The 12-day waiver overlaps commemorative events in early November.

Acceptable proof of service includes:

  • Veteran’s Service Card (NDI 75)
  • Canadian Forces Identification Card (NDI 20)
  • CFOne Card
  • Temporary National Defence Identification Card (NDI 10)
  • Appearing in uniform or wearing service medals

DRT scheduled service operates throughout Durham Region. On Demand service is available in low‑ridership areas across the Region, and Specialized Transit is available to customers registered for that program.

Examples listed include attending commemorative events, visiting loved ones and routine trips.

DRT, in partnership with the Region of Durham, announced the fare waiver in a Whitby‑datelined notice on the Region’s website. No additional conditions for eligible riders were listed.
