Dubai Brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate Recalled Due to Salmonella Risk in Ontario

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Dubai brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate (145 g, UPC: 6 11834 51237 1, all codes up to and including 225.090) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall was announced on September 4, 2025. According to the CFIA, the product was sold online and distributed in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec.

This recall is part of the CFIA’s ongoing investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada is also investigating a related outbreak of human illness. The CFIA advises anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming the recalled chocolate to contact their healthcare provider.

The CFIA states that recalled products should not be consumed, used, sold, served, or distributed. Consumers are advised by the CFIA to check for the recalled product in their homes, and to throw out or return any affected items to the place of purchase.

According to the CFIA, food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. Symptoms may include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. The CFIA notes that young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at particular risk for serious infections. The agency also states that long-term complications can include severe arthritis.

The CFIA is continuing its food safety investigation and may recall other products if necessary. The agency is working to verify that the industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace. The recall notice was published by the CFIA, and the recalling firm is Distribution Bonbons JJ Candy.
