Durham College Opens 2025-26 Academic Year with New Students and Programs
On September 2, 2025, Durham College began the 2025-26 academic year at its campuses in Oshawa and Whitby. According to information released by the college, approximately 11,200 students are enrolled, with more than half attending Durham College for the first time. These students are pursuing credentials including graduate certificates, diplomas, and degrees in over 145 programs.
The college announced the launch of two new programs this year: Interior Decorating and Electric Drive Vehicle Technician. Classes started on September 2. The college also reported that orientation and welcome events began the previous week and will continue throughout September. Activities for students include a movie on the campus lawn and the Campus Cup.
Durham College stated that both campuses have new pickup and drop-off zones designed to improve traffic flow and accessibility, as well as other accessibility upgrades in classrooms and community spaces.
Ahead of the start of the academic year, the college held its annual Academic Kickoff event for employees on August 25, according to Durham College. The event included a keynote speaker and a panel discussion on resilience.
