Durham College outlines tutoring, learning supports and accommodated testing in Oshawa and Whitby

Share

Durham College says students can access tutoring, learning-strategy support and disability-related accommodations through two campus services, including accommodated testing offered at test centres in Oshawa and Whitby.

The information, posted by the college on Oct. 8, 2026, outlines what supports are available for students who want help with study skills, course content, or arrangements such as accommodated testing.

According to the college, Student Academic Learning Services (SALS) offers help with learning strategies, including time management, organization, study strategies, test preparation and overcoming procrastination. The college also says SALS provides workshops and online resources.

For course-specific support, the college says SALS offers help in math, physics, biology, science, accounting, business, academic writing and language. The college also lists peer tutoring among the available supports.

Durham College’s post also describes services offered through its Access and Support Centre (ASC) for students who are registered with the centre. The college says ASC works with students to recommend and coordinate supports and accommodations based on individual learning needs and supporting documentation.

In the post, Durham College lists accommodated testing, peer notetaking, peer coaching and assistive technology as examples of supports that may be available through ASC.

For students who require accommodated testing, the college says tests can be written in class or at its Oshawa or Whitby test centres. The college says the test centres are used when a student’s needs cannot be fully met in the classroom.

Durham College lists its Oshawa Campus at 2000 Simcoe St. N. and its Whitby Campus at 1610 Champlain Ave.
