Durham College to Graduate Record Class of 4,858 Students at Oshawa Ceremonies

Nearly 5,000 students will graduate from Durham College at the 2025 Spring Convocation, which will be held from June 16 to 19 at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, according to the college. The college reports that the graduating class of 4,858 students is the largest in its 57-year history.

The increase in graduates and new program completions marks a notable milestone for the institution and the Oshawa community. The event will also include the first group of students graduating from the Clinical Bioinformatics, Recreation Therapy, and Honours Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence programs, according to Durham College.

The college has announced there will be eight ceremonies over four days. According to Durham College, the ceremony schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, June 16:

    • 2 p.m.: Faculty of Social and Community Services
    • 6:30 p.m.: Faculty of Hospitality and Horticultural Science, Faculty of Liberal Studies, Faculty of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship, Professional and Part-Time Learning
  • Tuesday, June 17:

    • 10 a.m.: Faculty of Health Sciences
    • 2:30 p.m.: Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Media, Art and Design
  • Wednesday, June 18:

    • 10 a.m.: Faculty of Business and Information Technology
    • 2:30 p.m.: Faculty of Business and Information Technology
  • Thursday, June 19:

    • 10 a.m.: Faculty of Business and Information Technology
    • 2:30 p.m.: Faculty of Business and Information Technology and Faculty of Science and Engineering Technology

All ceremonies are set to take place at the Tribute Communities Centre, located at 99 Athol Street East in Oshawa. Durham College notes that paid parking is available outside the centre on Bruce Street and inside Parkade 3 at 1 Mary Street North.

Durham College states that five recipients will be recognized with Alumni of Distinction awards during the convocation. This year, for the first time, the Durham College Alumni Association Outstanding Indigenous Graduate Award will be presented to a graduating Indigenous student, according to the college.

The college reports it serves more than 13,700 full-time post-secondary students and 2,300 apprenticeship students across more than 145 programs at its Oshawa and Whitby campuses.
