Durham Paramedic Services Open House Scheduled for May 24 in Whitby
Region of Durham Paramedic Services (RDPS) will host an open house at its headquarters at 4040 Anderson Street in Whitby on May 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of National Paramedic Services Week, which takes place May 18 to 24. According to the Region of Durham, parking for the event will be available at the Hebron Christian Reformed Church at 4240 Anderson Street, just north of the event site. The open house is free and open to all community members.
The open house marks both the annual Paramedic Services Week and the 25th anniversary of RDPS as a service of the Regional Municipality of Durham. This occasion highlights RDPS’s operational history and presence in the community.
According to the Region, activities at the open house will include a touch-a-truck display, thank-a-paramedic stations, a photo booth with props, information booths, and demonstration stations.
Troy Cheseboro, Chief of RDPS, stated in the Region’s announcement that paramedics “are often the first on scene, delivering critical care and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments.”
The Region states that RDPS is a division of the Durham Region Health Department and is the only certified ambulance provider in Durham Region. The service consists of more than 400 advanced care, primary care, tactical, and community paramedics working out of 12 paramedic stations throughout Durham Region.
