Durham Police Arrest Toronto Woman After Firearm Seized During Pickering Traffic Stop
A 27-year-old Toronto woman was arrested in Pickering by Durham Regional Police after officers say they discovered a firearm in her vehicle during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. The stop took place at approximately 2:15 a.m. on July 15, 2025, near Brock Road and Rossland Road West. Police report they stopped the vehicle after observing it travelling at a high rate of speed.
According to police, the driver was arrested at the scene without incident following the discovery of the firearm. The firearm was seized by officers. The driver has been identified by police as Yushan Zhou of Toronto.
Durham Regional Police state that Zhou faces several charges: Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Unloaded Firearm, Possess Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing No Authority, Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License and Registration Certificate, and Speeding. Police report that Zhou was held for a bail hearing. The information provided by police notes that these allegations have not yet been proven in court.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked by police to contact Constable Allen of West Division. Police also state that anonymous tips can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers by phone or online, and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000, according to police.
