Durham Region accepting applications for 2026 Sustainable Food Security Fund, with up to $50,000 per project

The Region of Durham is accepting applications from local non-profit organizations for its 2026 Sustainable Food Security Fund, with funding up to a maximum of $50,000 per approved application. Applications open May 4 and close May 27 at noon.

In Durham Region, one in four households is experiencing food insecurity. The fund supports projects that the region says are focused on long-term, sustainable solutions to improve food security for residents.

According to the Region of Durham, the Sustainable Food Security Fund is meant to support initiatives that build capacity in existing food programs and increase access to fresh, nutritious food.

The region also lists improving efficiency within the food distribution system and promoting dignity for people who use food programs among the fund’s aims.
