Durham Region marks Nov. 23–29 as Shop in Durham Week
Durham Region will mark November 23 to 29 as Shop in Durham Week, encouraging residents to buy from local businesses across the region. Information about local shopping options is available at ShopInDurham.ca.
Small businesses represent 75 per cent of new jobs in Canada and face rising costs, U.S. tariffs, and other economic pressures. The week aims to keep spending local and highlight retailers in the region’s 14 downtowns during the holiday season.
The campaign focuses on purchases at downtown stores, neighbourhood cafés, and nearby attractions.
“Shop in Durham Week is a great reminder that where we shop matters, during the holidays and year-round. Shopping close to home supports small businesses, keeps jobs and investments in Durham Region and creates a sense of place you won’t find anywhere else,” said John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for the Region of Durham.
“Shop in Durham Week invites residents to invest in their communities. Every local purchase helps keep Durham Region vibrant, resilient and full of opportunity. It’s a meaningful choice that supports businesses through the holidays and inspires a brighter year ahead,” said Simon Gill, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the Region of Durham.
Regional materials highlight 14 distinct downtowns across Durham as part of the initiative.
