Durham Region offices close Feb. 16 for Family Day; transit to run weekend schedule
Several Durham Region offices and in-person services will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, for the Family Day holiday, and Durham Region Transit will run on a weekend schedule.
Residents may see closures or reduced access at Ontario Works offices, regional child care and family service locations, some adult day programs, and public health clinics. Water sample drop-off and pick-up will also be unavailable at several sites on both Friday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 16.
Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby will be closed Feb. 16, including provincial courts and offices, the Ontario Works Office and the Child Care and Early Years Division Office.
Durham Region’s directly operated child care centres will be closed Feb. 16 in line with school board closures. All Family Services Durham locations will also be closed.
Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge will be closed Feb. 16. The Community Resource Centre on the upper level of 200 John Street West in Oshawa will also be closed.
Adult day programs at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa and Lakeview Manor in Beaverton will be closed Feb. 16. The adult day program at the Port Perry site (431 Paxton Street) is always closed on Mondays.
Durham Region Health Department programs and services will be unavailable Feb. 16. The region listed the Oral Health Clinic and Office in Oshawa, as well as sexual health, breastfeeding and immunization clinics.
Water sample drop-off and pick-up will be unavailable Friday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 16, at:
- Durham Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road, Whitby
- Durham Region Health Department Port Perry Office, 181 Perry Street, Port Perry
- Township of Uxbridge Municipal Office, 51 Toronto Street, Uxbridge
- Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, 2440 Durham Regional Highway 2, Bowmanville
Durham Region Transit will operate on a weekend schedule Feb. 16. DRT’s customer service desk at 110 Westney Road South in Ajax will be closed.
Durham Region Outreach services will still be available on Feb. 16 to support people experiencing homelessness.
The region said online tools for court and prosecution services will remain available, including fine payments, trial requests, early resolution requests, disclosure requests and the pre-trial booking system.
