Durham Region opens Thriving Communities Fund applications, with March 26 deadline

Durham Region is accepting applications from non-profit organizations for its Thriving Communities Fund, which offers up to $50,000 per approved application, with a deadline of March 26 at noon.

According to Durham Region, the fund is meant to support non-profits that work to help prevent and/or reduce poverty for Durham residents.

Durham Region’s announcement says funding can be used for operating support or capacity-building activities intended to strengthen an organization’s ability to deliver programs and services.

The region lists the Thriving Communities Fund as part of its Community Social Investment Program.

The announcement does not provide more detail on eligible activities beyond operating and capacity-building support.

Durham Region also says organizations with project ideas focused on food security can consider the Sustainable Food Security Fund, which the region says will launch on May 4, 2026.
