Durham Region reminds drivers that work-zone speed limits are reduced and fines can double
Durham Region said in a notice posted April 27 that speed limits are reduced in construction zones on Regional roads and that fines are doubled when workers are present.
The reminder comes as the Region says the number of construction projects increases as the weather warms up, which can mean more work zones for drivers travelling through Durham.
In the notice, Durham Region reminded drivers to slow down and use caution in construction zones and in areas where road workers are present. The Region said the intent is to protect the safety of workers as well as other drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
Information on current and upcoming construction projects on Regional roads is posted at durham.ca/WorksProjects. The notice also points to the Traffic Watch Map at durham.ca/TrafficWatch.
