Durham Region sets December meetings on 2026 budgets; public comments due Dec. 10
Durham Region’s Special Committee of the Whole will review the proposed 2026 Property Tax Supported Business Plans and Budget and the Water Supply and Sanitary Sewerage Business Plans and Budget on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in Council Chambers at Durham Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby. A second day is scheduled for Friday, December 12, at 9:30 a.m., if required. Regional Council will consider the proposals on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
The budgets set 2026 spending for property tax–supported services and include 2026 water and sanitary sewer user rates and other related fees and charges. These decisions affect municipal services and utility rates across Durham Region, including Clarington.
The committee will accept public comments. Written submissions must be received by noon on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Requests to delegate at the Special Committee of the Whole are due by the same deadline. Those who register in advance will receive instructions on how to participate electronically or in person.
Both the Special Committee of the Whole and Regional Council meetings will be livestreamed on the Region’s website.
The proposed 2026 budgets are scheduled to be posted on Friday, December 5, 2025, at durham.ca. The documents will also be available upon request.
