Durham Region to drill new municipal well on Simcoe Street in Scugog from Feb. 17 to Sept. 30, 2026
Durham Region plans to drill a new municipal water-supply well at 12235 Simcoe Street in the Township of Scugog from Feb. 17 to Sept. 30, 2026, to augment the water supply for the Port Perry community.
For residents and businesses near the site, the project is expected to bring more traffic to and from the property and higher noise levels during construction. Durham Region said it does not anticipate impacts to municipal or private drinking-water quality or supply during the work.
Initial drilling is scheduled for the week of Feb. 16, 2026.
Well construction is expected to start in late March and continue into May.
Testing is expected to be completed in September 2026.
The work is to be carried out under the Township of Scugog Noise By-law No. 50-22, according to Durham Region.
