Durham Region to hold early learning and child care showcase and job fair April 11 in Whitby

Durham Region will hold an Early Learning and Child Care Showcase and Job Fair on Friday, April 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Durham Region headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, in Whitby.

Durham Region says the event aims to raise awareness of careers in early learning and child care, citing what it calls a growing need for a skilled workforce.

Organizers say the showcase will feature local employment opportunities, post-secondary programs and child care organizations.

A Student and Professional Panel is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Jill Javelosa, a registered early childhood educator, is scheduled to give a keynote at 11 a.m. Durham Region’s notice describes her as a pedagogical leader and reflective practitioner with two decades of experience in family support, early learning and community engagement.
