Durham Region to host free older adult safety and wellness day June 8 in Whitby
Durham Region will host “Thriving Together: Older Adult Safety and Wellness Day” on Sunday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Region of Durham Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
The event, announced by Durham Region, is scheduled during Seniors’ Month and will include an information fair and presentations focused on safety and wellness for older adults.
According to the region’s announcement, the information fair will include booths from Durham Regional Police Service’s Older Adult Support and Investigative Services, Durham Region Paramedics, Ontario Health atHome, and Community Care Durham.
Opening remarks are scheduled for 10 a.m., delivered by Stella Danos-Papaconstantinou, Durham’s commissioner of social services.
A presentation by the Community Paramedicine Program is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Community Care Durham is scheduled to give a falls prevention presentation from 1 to 2 p.m.
Durham Regional Police Service is scheduled to present on fraud and scams from 2 to 3 p.m.
