Durham Region to host National Public Works Week open house May 23 at Whitby depot

Durham Region says it will hold a National Public Works Week open house on Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oshawa/Whitby Depot at 825 Conlin Road in Whitby. The region said the event will run rain or shine.

National Public Works Week runs May 17 to 23 and is observed by municipalities across North America. Durham Region said the open house is tied to that week and will focus on the services provided by its Works Department.

According to the region, planned activities include tours at the depot, a Touch-a-Truck area, face painting, information booths, an ice cream truck and a chance to try heavy equipment simulators.

Durham Region said no pre-registration is needed, and tours will be based on guest volume.

Regional Chair and CEO John Henry has proclaimed May 17 to 23 as National Public Works Week in Durham Region, the region said.
