Durham Region Transit Fare Changes Effective July 1, 2025
Durham Region Transit (DRT) will introduce new fare rates across Durham Region starting July 1, 2025, according to a news release from DRT. The fare changes will affect adults, youth, seniors, and participants in the Transit Assistance Program.
DRT states that the fare adjustments are part of its 10-year service and financing strategy. The plan includes targets to increase bus service by 127 percent by 2032, improve service frequency, and expand the transit network in Durham Region.
According to DRT, adult fares will be as follows: a single ride with PRESTO or E-Ticket will cost $3.73, and an adult monthly PRESTO pass will cost $134.28. DRT indicates that paying by cash or open payment (using debit or credit card) for an adult ride will cost $4.75.
DRT reports youth ages 13 to 19 will pay $3.36 for a single ride using PRESTO or E-Ticket, and a youth monthly PRESTO pass will be $107.42. For youth, the cash or open payment price for a single ride will be $4.75, according to DRT.
For seniors aged 65 and over, DRT states that a single ride with PRESTO or E-Ticket will cost $2.46, while a senior monthly PRESTO pass will be $53.71. DRT lists the cash fare for seniors at $3.45 and the open payment fare at $4.75 per ride.
According to DRT, Transit Assistance Program (TAP) participants will pay $3.73 for each of the first 14 PRESTO trips and $52.22 for the TAP monthly PRESTO pass.
