Durham Region Transit Fares to Increase on July 1, 2025
Durham Region Transit (DRT) will increase fare rates throughout its transit system starting July 1, 2025, according to an announcement from the Regional Municipality of Durham.
The changes apply to single rides and monthly passes for adults, youth aged 13 to 19, seniors aged 65 and over, and riders enrolled in the Transit Assistance Program (TAP).
For adults, a single ride using PRESTO or an e-ticket will cost $3.73, and a monthly PRESTO pass will be $134.28. Cash and open payment (debit or credit card) fares for a single ride will be $4.75. Youth will pay $3.36 for a single ride with PRESTO or e-ticket, $107.42 for a monthly PRESTO pass, and $4.75 using cash or open payment. Seniors will be charged $2.46 for a single ride with PRESTO or e-ticket, $53.71 for a monthly PRESTO pass, $3.45 in cash, and $4.75 when using open payment.
Riders in the TAP program will pay $3.73 for each of their first 14 trips in a month using PRESTO; additional trips beyond the 14th are included at no extra cost. The monthly TAP PRESTO pass will be $52.22.
According to the Regional Municipality of Durham, the fare increase forms part of DRT’s 10-year service and financing strategy, which includes plans to increase bus service levels by 127 percent by 2032.
