Durham Region Transit Seeks Student Applicant for National Transit Summit in Montreal

Durham Region Transit (DRT) has announced that one post-secondary student from Durham Region will be selected to attend the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) Young Leaders Summit in Montreal, Quebec, from October 31 to November 2, 2025. According to the DRT, this national event brings together students from across Canada to discuss topics related to public transit.

The opportunity is open to current students enrolled at a post-secondary institution in Durham Region. DRT states that the selected student will represent the region at the summit.

Applicants must submit either a written statement of 300 to 500 words or a video of no more than two minutes. Submissions should describe the applicant’s vision for the future of public transit in Durham Region and outline how they see themselves contributing to that future. According to DRT, applications must also include the applicant’s area of study or expertise, a short résumé or list of relevant experience, and proof of enrollment at a Durham Region post-secondary school.
