Durham Tourism Publishes 'Open Skies' Guide Highlighting 129 Local Activities
Durham Tourism has announced the release of "Open Skies," a guide that lists 129 activities and destinations across Durham Region. The publication became available on September 11, 2025, and is accessible online at DurhamTourism.ca/discover or at select in-person locations.
According to Durham Tourism, the guide is designed to serve as a resource for planning trips to local venues and attractions. Officials describe "Open Skies" as providing checklists and photos to help residents and visitors explore leisure, dining, and recreational options within the region.
The guide includes listings for farm-to-table restaurants, breweries, cafés, live music venues, theatres, trails, waterfronts, and spas. Each entry identifies specific destinations in various communities throughout Durham Region, according to Durham Tourism.
In an official statement, John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for the Region of Durham, said, “Open Skies showcases must-try attractions and destinations in Durham Region.” Simon Gill, Director of Economic Development and Tourism, stated that the publication aims to support local businesses and encourage tourism within the area.
