Expiry Review Initiated for Structural Tubing from Korea and Türkiye

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has initiated an expiry review concerning structural tubing imports from the Republic of Korea and Türkiye. This review is a follow-up to an order issued on October 16, 2019, as part of expiry review RR-2018-006. The Tribunal aims to assess whether the expiration of this order could lead to continued or resumed dumping of these products and whether such actions might harm the domestic industry.

The Canada Border Services Agency is expected to provide a determination by February 6, 2025, regarding the likelihood of resumed or continued dumping. Should the outcome be positive, the Tribunal will further evaluate by July 16, 2025, if this dumping would likely result in injury to the domestic industry.

The Tribunal operates as an independent quasi-judicial body, reporting to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. Its responsibilities include addressing cases related to dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, and appeals regarding customs and excise tax rulings. Additionally, it offers advice on various economic, trade, and tariff matters when requested by the federal government.

Individuals, associations, or governments interested in participating in the expiry review can do so by submitting Form I—Notice of Participation.
