Fall Cultural Programming Announced at Clarington Library, Museums & Archives
Clarington Library, Museums & Archives (CLMA) has scheduled a series of cultural programs and events for the fall at its locations across the municipality.
The programming features events related to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, multilingual storytimes, and multicultural celebrations. According to CLMA, these offerings are intended for both long-time residents and newcomers.
Walk Together Towards Reconciliation: Beading Orange Shirt Pins is scheduled in partnership with Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Circle on September 25 at 6:30pm at the Courtice Library, and again on October 2 at 6:30pm at the Bowmanville Library. Diwali Celebration is planned for October 11 at 10:30am at the Bowmanville Library. Celebrate Clarington Culture: Islamic History Month will take place at the Newcastle Library on October 19 at 2:00pm. An Islamic History Month Storytime is set for October 25 at 10:30am at the Bowmanville Library.
CLMA reports that English Conversation Circles have been expanded, now available in person at the Bowmanville Library on Monday evenings at 6:30pm and online on Wednesdays at 1:30pm. This fall, all-ages multilingual storytimes are being offered in French, Hindi & Urdu, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
CLMA states its material collections at all library locations currently include resources in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, Farsi, French, Hindi, Polish, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Ukrainian, and Urdu. The organization is seeking to add Punjabi materials and children's storytime kits in Arabic and Tamil.
