Film Durham to host free film and TV career fair March 10 in Oshawa; registration required

Film Durham will hold a free Film and TV Industry Career Fair on Tuesday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Durham College and Ontario Tech University Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre, 21 Avenue of Champions in Oshawa, with registration required.

The event is billed as a chance for students and adults considering a career change to learn about film and television jobs and training options connected to productions in Durham Region.

Film Durham describes the fair as covering over 150 career possibilities, including cinematography, directing, sound design, visual effects, animation, costume and props.

Attendees can meet film and TV professionals, ask questions, take a film career quiz and view interactive displays, according to the event notice.

Registration is available at FilmDurham.eventbrite.com. Registration closes Monday, March 9, at 11:59 p.m., or when space runs out.

Film Durham says it is producing the fair in collaboration with industry unions and guilds, including the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET) 700M Unifor; International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) 873 and IATSE 411; the International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE 667); the Directors Guild of Canada Ontario; the Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television Radio Artists (ACTRA); and the Writers Guild of Canada.

Other partners listed by Film Durham include Ontario Creates, Ontario Green Screen, Sunbelt Rentals Film and TV, the Durham Region International Film Festival, Durham College, Ontario Tech University, Trent University Durham GTA, the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International and the Canadian Firearms Safety Education Service.

Film Durham is part of Invest Durham, the region’s economic development and tourism division, according to the announcement.
