Free Film Durham seminar in Oshawa to explain hosting film crews on private property
Film Durham and municipal film offices in Durham Region will hold a free Locations Seminar Monday, April 14, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Parkwood Estate National Historic Site (The Sunroom), 270 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa.
The seminar is for residents and business owners interested in what to expect when film or television productions scout or film on private property. Organizers say it will cover how scouting visits work, how properties are managed during production, and what production companies are responsible for.
According to Durham Region, the session will cover what productions look for in a location and how location scouts choose sites, including what property owners can expect during a site visit.
Other topics include preparing a home or business before a film crew arrives, protecting a property during filming, and production companies’ responsibilities.
The agenda also includes how property owners can have their locations added to Film Durham and Ontario Creates digital location libraries.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Seating is limited.
