Groundbreaking Held for South Bowmanville Recreation Centre

The Municipality of Clarington held a groundbreaking ceremony for the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre on May 28, 2024. The new facility will be located at 2611 Green Road in Bowmanville and is planned to be approximately 110,000 square feet, according to information released by the Municipality of Clarington.

The Municipality stated that the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre will include an aquatic centre with lap, leisure, and therapy pools, a double gymnasium, a fitness track, program spaces, and outdoor amenities such as a skate park and sports courts. According to the Municipality, the facility will be fully accessible.

The ceremony was attended by Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster and members of Council. Mayor Foster said, "This is an exciting day for south Bowmanville and for the entire community."

According to the Municipality of Clarington, the project is scheduled for completion in 2026. Details regarding the project budget and project partners were not provided in the official announcement.
