Hepatitis C Outreach Clinic Dates Announced for Bowmanville Library in Fall and Winter 2025
According to the Clarington Library, Museums & Archives, the Durham Community Health Centre will hold a Hepatitis C Outreach Program at the Bowmanville Library on five Fridays in 2025: August 22, September 26, October 24, November 28, and December 19. Each session will run from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open to drop-in participants without the need for an appointment.
The sessions are scheduled to provide local residents with access to free hepatitis C education, testing, and treatment services. The program is funded by the Ministry of Health and is one of 24 hepatitis teams operating in Ontario. According to information provided by the Clarington Library, Museums & Archives, the outreach initiative serves Durham Region and four surrounding counties.
The Durham Community Health Centre's program uses a test-to-treat model delivered through mobile units. The clinical team includes a hepatologist, a registered nurse, a case manager, and outreach workers. These professionals provide care from initial screening to the completion of treatment. According to the Clarington Library, monthly visits to the Bowmanville Library are part of the effort to make these health services available in the community.
