Invest Durham plans May 2, 2024 1855 MASTERCLASS event in Whitby with RBCx head Sid Paquette
Invest Durham will hold an in-person 1855 MASTERCLASS event in Whitby on May 2, 2024, with Sid Paquette, head of RBCx, listed as the speaker, according to a Durham Region announcement.
The session is part of the 1855 MASTERCLASS series, which Durham Region describes as an educational initiative for businesses, entrepreneurs and people interested in technology.
According to the Region, the series launched in 2019 and is presented by Invest Durham in collaboration with 1855 Accelerator and Ontario Tech University.
RBCx is Royal Bank of Canada’s technology and innovation arm. In a statement included in the announcement, Paquette said founders, innovators and investors in the Canadian tech ecosystem have made “significant pivots” over the past 18 months in response to economic conditions, new market opportunities, and the flow of talent and funding.
The announcement describes 1855 Accelerator as a business hub in downtown Whitby.
The Region’s posting lists the May 2 event as being in Whitby but does not name a venue. It directs readers to an Eventbrite page for details and tickets.
The announcement also includes statements from Durham Regional Chair John Henry, Invest Durham director Simon Gill, Ontario Tech University faculty dean Carolyn McGregor, and 1855 Accelerator representatives Jason Atkins and Kaila Dimopoulos about the return of the in-person series.
