Lakeridge Health Achieves HIMSS EMRAM Level 6 Certification

Lakeridge Health has achieved the HIMSS EMRAM Level 6 certification. This certification acknowledges advancements in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and health information technology, placing Lakeridge Health among a select group of hospitals in Ontario and Canada to have reached this stage. The certification comes from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

The HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) is utilized to assess the progress of hospitals in implementing sophisticated EMR systems. Achieving Stage 6 indicates the implementation of technologies that enhance clinical decision-making and optimize hospital operations.

According to Dr. Ilan Lenga, Chief Information Officer, this accomplishment aligns with Lakeridge Health's ongoing efforts to improve patient care through technological enhancements. Dr. Larry Nijmeh, Chief Medical Information Officer, mentioned that these advanced systems contribute to improving patient outcomes by providing comprehensive patient histories and reducing unnecessary procedures.

The hospital's leadership, represented by Cynthia Davis, President and CEO, has stated intentions to continue pursuing advancements, highlighting a goal to achieve Stage 7, the highest level of certification available in this model.
