Lakeridge Health announces new fluoroscopy machine at Ajax Pickering Hospital
Lakeridge Health announced on September 10, 2025, that Ajax Pickering Hospital has added a new fluoroscopy machine, a real-time X-ray system that the organization says complements an existing unit at Oshawa Hospital.
According to a website post by Lakeridge Health, fluoroscopy shows internal structures in motion, similar to a live video. The post cites uses that include watching how food moves through the digestive system, assessing swallowing after a stroke, and guiding medical tubes during placement.
In the post, Lakeridge Health said the machine produces clearer images and described it as more dependable.
“This upgrade means we can help more patients more efficiently,” said Kyle Hiemstra, manager of Diagnostic Imaging at Lakeridge Health.
Lakeridge Health also said the addition at Ajax Pickering Hospital complements equipment at Oshawa Hospital.
The information was published on Lakeridge Health’s website on September 10, 2025, under the headline “New X-Ray Technology Bring Better, Faster Care to the Ajax Pickering Hospital.” The announcement did not include project cost, an installation timeline beyond the date of the post, or utilization targets.
