Lakeridge Health Plans Sacred Fire Spaces at All Hospitals

Lakeridge Health has announced plans to install Indigenous Sacred Fire spaces at all hospital locations within its regional system. This follows the opening of the first Sacred Fire space at Oshawa Hospital on April 22, 2024. The new space aims to provide Indigenous patients and families with access to culturally appropriate services and supports. The organization is working with the Central East Regional Indigenous Cancer Program and local Indigenous communities to implement these spaces across its facilities.
