Lassonde Donation Supports Ontario Tech University Skills Series in Oshawa

A donation from Jennifer and Christian Lassonde to Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ontario, was announced on March 28, 2025, to support student participants in the Skills Series project, according to information released by Ontario Tech University.

The Skills Series, organized by the Enactus Ontario Tech chapter and based at the Brilliant Catalyst incubator, is described by the university as a student-led initiative focused on entrepreneurship and business education. According to Ontario Tech University, the program includes workshops in business planning, marketing, and financial management, as well as innovation challenges, networking events with industry representatives, and a pre-incubator phase providing early-stage funding, team development, and industry connections.

The university reports that students participating in the program are paired with experienced entrepreneurs and experts for feedback and guidance. According to Ontario Tech University, the Skills Series also offers specialized support for students interested in product-based businesses and e-commerce, and concludes with a Project Showcase where students present business ideas to judges and possible investors.

The university states that the Skills Series includes a youth outreach component in which Ontario Tech students mentor high school students as they work on business ideas. According to the university, these outreach activities are conducted in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Durham, the YMCA, Enactus UOttawa, and Enactus France.

In a statement released by Ontario Tech University, Jennifer and Christian Lassonde said, "We are proud to support the Skills Series at Ontario Tech University.
