Liam Croft Graduates from Durham College Mechanical Engineering Technology Program

Liam Croft has graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Durham College. According to Durham College, Croft served as President of the DC Engineering Club and represented student interests on the DC Board of Governors. He also acted as a Co-op Ambassador and participated in the Program Advisory Committee, where he provided feedback aimed at improving the curriculum and aligning it with industry needs.

Croft previously attended Western University before enrolling at Durham College. He said the pandemic influenced his decision to reassess his career path, leading him to transfer. Croft reported that strong connections with peers and support from the college motivated his involvement in student life and volunteer activities.

Describing his time on the Board of Governors, Croft said the experience was initially intimidating but became more comfortable as he contributed. He highlighted the importance of sharing student concerns with board members. Croft said managing multiple commitments required prioritization, with his coursework remaining his main focus. While participation in extracurricular and leadership activities reduced his free time, Croft stated that the value of the work motivated him to stay involved.

Looking forward, Croft said he plans to take a break before working full time. He expressed interest in pursuing additional post-secondary education through a bridge program and spending time in Australia, citing family connections. Croft said his goal over the next five years is to move into a business leadership role while continuing to build experience in the field.
