Man Critically Injured in E-Scooter Collision on Kitney Drive, Ajax

A man remains unconscious and in critical condition after an e-scooter collision in Ajax on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. near Kitney Drive, just north of Clements Road West.

The case is being investigated by the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit. Police have asked for assistance from members of the public who may have information about the incident.

According to DRPS, the man was riding a Segway Ninebot Kick Scooter Max G2 northbound along the east side of Kitney Drive when he lost control and fell, resulting in a serious head injury. Police report that he was not wearing a helmet. After the collision, he was transported to a local-area hospital in life-threatening condition before being airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains unconscious and in critical condition.

Police state that the Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene on September 16 to conduct an investigation, which remains ongoing. DRPS is asking anyone with information related to the collision to contact Detective Constable Colin Hoevenaars of the Collision Investigation Unit.
