Man Facing 12 New Human Trafficking Charges After Allegations of Offences While in Prison
A 35-year-old man, Kemoy Chisholm, is facing 12 new criminal charges related to human trafficking after additional victims came forward, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) on August 26, 2025. Chisholm is currently serving a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence for earlier human trafficking convictions. Police allege he attempted to procure victims while in federal custody.
Human trafficking investigations remain a matter of public safety in Durham Region. The new charges against Chisholm follow allegations that he continued to contact and exploit victims while already incarcerated.
According to DRPS, their Human Trafficking Unit received information in March 2025 that Chisholm was contacting victims using Instagram and telephone from prison. Police say two additional victims approached investigators, giving details of incidents that took place between 2018 and 2020.
Police allege Chisholm coerced these individuals to perform sexual acts for money and advertised their services online, collecting all proceeds himself. Investigators also state he arranged for victims to travel to British Columbia to increase earnings. According to police, one victim’s cellphone was mirrored so he could monitor their calls and communications. During the COVID-19 pandemic, police say one victim was forced to hand over their Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) payments. DRPS reports that Chisholm has contacted previous victims from prison, trying to regain control over them.
A judge later authorized 12 additional charges against Chisholm. The DRPS states these charges include:
- Two counts of trafficking in persons by exercising control
- Two counts of material benefit from sexual services
- Three counts of procuring or exercising control
- Two counts of advertising sexual services
- Two counts of financial or material benefit from trafficking a person over 18
- One count of withholding or destroying travel or identity documents for the purpose of trafficking a person over 18
DRPS says Chisholm is also known by the nicknames “MONEY,” “KMONEY,” “HAVOC,” and “KING.”
Investigators believe there may be additional victims connected with this case.
DRPS notes these allegations have not been proven in court.
