Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Collision on Lakeshore Road in Clarington
A 61-year-old man from Oshawa sustained serious, life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle and a pick-up truck collided on Lakeshore Road in Clarington on Monday afternoon, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).
The incident occurred on May 26 at about 3:00 p.m. on Lakeshore Road, east of Stephenson Road. DRPS reported that a black Chevrolet pick-up truck, traveling eastbound, crossed over the centre line to avoid a parked vehicle as it went up a grade. Police said that as the pick-up reached the crest, it collided with a westbound Suzuki motorcycle, ejecting the motorcyclist from the bike.
DRPS said the rider was treated at the scene by Durham EMS before being taken to a local hospital. According to police, ORNGE Air Ambulance later transferred him to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains in critical care with life-threatening injuries. Police stated that the driver of the pick-up truck was uninjured and cooperated with authorities at the scene.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended and examined the scene. According to DRPS, the roadway was closed for a period while evidence was collected. Police said the collision remains under investigation.
