Mounit el Bait tahina and halva recalled in Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba due to undeclared peanut
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning Aug. 14 for Mounit el Bait brand tahina and several halva products sold in Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba due to undeclared peanut.
For people with peanut allergies or sensitivities, consuming products with undeclared peanut can cause a serious or life-threatening reaction, the CFIA warned.
The affected products are being recalled from the marketplace because they contain peanut that is not declared on the label, the agency said. The recall applies to all codes where peanut is not declared on the label.
The recalled products include:
- Mounit el Bait Tahina (454 g) — UPC 5 281029 254208
- Mounit el Bait Halva Plain (454 g) — UPC 5 281029 254352
- Mounit el Bait Halva Plain (908 g) — UPC 5 281029 254369
- Mounit el Bait Halva with Pistachios (454 g) — UPC 5 281029 254574
- Mounit el Bait Halva with Pistachios (908 g) — UPC 5 281029 254581
- Mounit el Bait Halva with Chocolate (454 g) — UPC 5 281029 254468
- Mounit el Bait Halva with Chocolate (908 g) — UPC 5 281029 254475
The recall was triggered by CFIA test results. The CFIA said it has not received any reports of reactions linked to the products.
The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls. The CFIA said it is verifying the products are being removed from the marketplace.
The recalling firm is Golden Gate Inc. The CFIA classified the recall as Class 1 (RA-82487).
