One Person Dead After House Fire in Ajax: Police

One person was found dead after a house fire in Ajax late Friday night, according to Durham Regional Police. Police responded to a call about an armed man threatening family members at a home near Taunton Road East and Salem Road North around 11:10 p.m. on July 11, 2025.

Durham Regional Police said that both police and Ajax Fire crews arrived and safely removed several people from the residence. Neighbouring homes were evacuated during the incident.

Police stated that there was an active fire in the home on arrival. No other physical injuries were reported, according to police. The Ontario Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation at the scene, police said.
