Ontario issues Notice to Proceed after environmental assessment step for Lakeshore GO East Extension to Bowmanville, Durham says

Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has issued a Notice to Proceed after the Transit Project Assessment Process was completed for the Lakeshore GO East Extension to Bowmanville, Durham Region said.

The Transit Project Assessment Process, or TPAP, is an environmental assessment for the proposed extension, according to a statement issued by Durham Region on behalf of Regional Chair John Henry.

Durham Region said Metrolinx will continue with plans to extend GO rail service from the Durham College Oshawa GO station through to Bowmanville.

The plan includes four new stations along the route, Durham Region said.

Durham’s statement did not provide a construction start date or a service start date.
