Ontario Tech to hold Fall Convocation Oct. 15, 2026, in Oshawa; honorary doctorates set for Kevin Chan and Laura Elliott
Ontario Tech University will hold its Fall Convocation on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, in Oshawa, where it will also award honorary doctorate degrees to Kevin Chan and Laura Elliott, the university announced.
Convocation is a ticketed event and all attendees must be registered, according to the university. Ontario Tech said people who cannot attend in person will be able to watch the ceremonies through an online livestream.
Chan, a senior director at Meta and a former member of Ontario Tech’s Board of Governors, will receive an honorary doctorate. The university said he is being honoured for contributions in technology, public policy and civic engagement.
Elliott, a school-board advisor and former member of the Board of Governors, will also receive an honorary doctorate. Ontario Tech said she is being honoured for contributions to education, public service and university governance.
Ontario Tech’s announcement did not provide additional details about the honorary degrees beyond the recipients’ names and brief descriptions. It also said full ceremony schedules will be available on the university’s convocation website.
