Ontario Tech University Announces Volunteer Recognition for National Volunteer Week

Ontario Tech University announced it is recognizing its volunteers during National Volunteer Week, which runs from Sunday, April 27 to Saturday, May 3, 2025. According to the university's news release, this recognition highlights the contributions of a wide range of volunteers connected to the university, including students, employees, alumni, and advisory members.

The university states that volunteer support spans many campus activities, affecting various aspects of university life. Older residents and other community members may be interested to know how these volunteer efforts contribute to events and student experience at the university.

Ontario Tech University specified that volunteers include not only students and faculty but also alumni, donors, partners, friends, and participants on groups such as the Alumni Association Council, Campaign Cabinet, and the Board of Governors. The university attributed volunteer contributions to activities such as mentoring, providing expertise, supporting athletic teams, and involvement in fundraising.

James Barnett, Vice-President, Advancement, said, “Volunteers are essential to Ontario Tech’s success, by helping prepare students to make a positive long-term impact in a tech-focused world.”

The university also noted that staff and volunteers involved in the Tech With Conscience campaign cabinet attended the annual Chancellor’s Dinner in October 2024 to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of volunteers over the preceding year.
