Ontario Tech University applications rise nearly 70 percent since 2021
Applications to Ontario Tech University in Oshawa have risen by 69.4 percent since 2021, according to figures from the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) cited in the university's January 28, 2025, announcement. The university reports surpassing 13,000 applications for the second year in a row.
OUAC data referenced by the university show that applications increased from 7,734 in January 2021 to more than 13,000 in 2025. The university notes a 27 percent increase in applications since January 2022, based on the same OUAC source.
According to Ontario Tech University, the institution placed first for reputation in the 2025 Maclean’s Canadian University Rankings. The university also states that it ranks among the Top 200 Young Universities worldwide.
Ontario Tech University indicates that all its programs include experiential learning opportunities, such as co-operative education, internships, or laboratory work.
