Ontario Tech University Introduces Bursaries for Children of Auto Industry Workers
Ontario Tech University has announced three new bursaries for prospective students whose parents work in the automotive industry. Applications opened on April 4, and the bursaries are available to Ontario high school graduates who have accepted an offer of admission to the university's Oshawa campus.
According to the university, these bursaries are being introduced to address the impact of changes in trade and economic policies affecting auto sector workers and their families in Oshawa and across Canada. The university states that preference will be given to applicants planning to study engineering, computer science, or related fields.
Dr. Steven Murphy, President and Vice-Chancellor of Ontario Tech University, said these bursaries highlight the university's ongoing collaboration with the auto industry and the Oshawa community. The university also notes that it has established research relationships with automotive companies through projects such as Project Arrow, with faculty and students participating in research and development related to electric and hybrid vehicles, autonomous systems, and sustainable manufacturing.
Eligible students can apply for the bursaries after accepting an offer of admission to Ontario Tech University. More information, including application procedures and eligibility criteria, is provided on the Ontario Tech Student Awards and Financial Aid website.
