Ontario Tech University Marks National Volunteer Week by Recognizing Volunteers

Ontario Tech University is marking National Volunteer Week, held from Sunday, April 27 to Saturday, May 3, by recognizing the contributions of its volunteers. The university held its annual Chancellor’s Dinner in October 2024 to acknowledge individuals involved in a range of campus activities, according to university sources.

National Volunteer Week is an occasion for organizations to highlight the role of volunteers. The university's announcement connects the recognition to this year’s theme, “Volunteers Make Waves,” and aligns it with Ontario Tech’s Tech with a Conscience campaign.

Ontario Tech reports that volunteers include students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, partners, and various members of university councils and boards. University officials stated that volunteer activities span areas such as student mentoring, supporting athletic teams, participating in advisory roles, sharing information about Ontario Tech, and aiding fundraising initiatives.

James Barnett, Vice-President, Advancement at Ontario Tech, said in a statement that volunteers help support the university’s activities, including preparing students for future challenges. Ontario Tech’s announcement notes that the university’s recognition efforts are ongoing, with volunteers continuing to play a part in campus life and related campaigns throughout the year.
