Ontario Tech University Raises $125,000 at 2024 Chancellor’s Challenge
Ontario Tech University reported that its fourth annual Chancellor’s Challenge took place on September 21 at Polonsky Commons in north Oshawa, raising $125,000 and drawing more than 400 participants. The 5K fundraising event welcomed students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. According to the university, the money raised will support student learning programs, scholarships, and research projects.
The university stated that the event included a 5K run, walk, and roll, as well as additional activities such as live music and guided tours of the ACE Core Research Facility. Ontario Tech University introduced the Chancellor’s Circle Award this year, presenting the award to John Ruffolo for what it described as his contributions to Canada's technology sector. The university said the new award is intended to honour individuals who have made contributions to society and align with the institution's mission.
