Ontario Tech University Reports Record $13.3 Million Fundraising Year
Ontario Tech University in Oshawa reported raising $13.3 million through its Tech with a Conscience fundraising campaign during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. The university stated this represents a 45 per cent increase over the previous year and is the highest annual fundraising total in its history.
According to the university, funds from donors will be used for student aid, campus development, and research projects. The allocation includes $1.8 million for student scholarships, bursaries, emergency financial aid, and expanded resources for varsity athletics and student-athletes. Ontario Tech also reported that $6 million is designated for campus enhancements and the development of high-tech learning spaces. In addition, $5.5 million will support research initiatives and partnerships with industry, according to the university.
Among the largest gifts reported by the university is a $4.8 million anonymous donation supporting campus expansion. Ontario Tech announced that a contribution from Mitch and Leslie Frazer resulted in the naming of the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education, the first faculty at the university named in recognition of donors. According to Ontario Tech, the Sorbara Family contributed over $1 million for student scholarships and facility upgrades. The university also listed a $750,000 donation from the RBC Foundation to establish the Student Enrichment Program and a $500,000 donation from Scotiabank to launch the Black Youth Visionary Program. Jason and Riley Rinaldi were reported by the university to have provided a gift to establish a Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Rehabilitation at the Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research.
The Tech with a Conscience campaign was announced by Ontario Tech University in November 2024. The university published the fundraising results and donation details in its announcement on April 29, 2025.
